Dr. Terriyln C. Rivers-Cannon is a School Social Worker for the Atlanta, GA Public School System, Office of Student Support Services. She has devoted the last 17 years to improving the lives of Georgia’s school aged population. Her role is that of a child advocate, providing appropriate interventions and services that help an average of 2,500 children and families per year who are at risk for educational failure.
Terriyln has had a spotlight - Press Release for CUTV News Radio in 2017 that was followed by a featured interview on – December 1st that provided her with an opportunity to discuss her nonprofit organization K.A.T.I.E. (Karing Actions Towards Inspiring Eagles) who she dedicated to her aunt Katie Mae Tindal who was also a Social Worker and she is the Founder /CEO. She is also the host of DARE to Soar with Doctor R.C. Bold Brave MEDIA network that airs every Saturday from 10:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. E.S.T.
Terriyln was the honoree for the 2016 Women of Distinction’s Excellence Award Recipient, 2014 15th Edition of Who’s Who in Black Atlanta- (Profiled and Featured) Leaders in Academia, 2013 NASW (National Association of Social Workers-GA) Social Worker of the year award and all were presented to Terriyln in recognition of her demonstration of exceptional professional qualities that stood out beyond the expectations of her job/profession.
Terriyln received her Doctor of Educational Leadership degree from Argosy University, Sarasota, FL in 2007. She is a certified School Social Worker, Facilitator with the Council on Alcohol and Drugs for both STOP and SUPER Stop Programs, and Question Persuade Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor for Suicide Prevention. Facilitator as a Darkness to Light Sexual Abuse Prevention Training from Stewards of Children, Certified in Mental Health First Aid Certified Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention Trainer: Lifelines – Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, and Trauma/Brain 201 – Building Resiliency.
Terriyln’s professional/national memberships are National Association of Social Workers (NASW), National Association of Social Worker- Georgia Chapter, National Association of Social Worker-Delegate Assembly, National School Social Workers Association of America, where she he has just recently been elected to the 2018 Endowment Board, School Social Work Association of Georgia (SSWAG) 2017 – 2019 State President, 2016 -2018 State Vice President, 2015 District President, and 2014 District Vice President. Nomination Committee Chair for SSWAG (School Social Work Association of Georgia). She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., International Association of Women (IAW), Strathmore World Wide Women of Excellence, and Women of Distinction. Terriyln is the wife of a retired Army Veteran, and the proud mother of two sons.

Terriyln has a clear understanding of the multiple challenges that are encountered by our youth of today in as well as outside of the home, and has therefore vowed to be that voice of advocacy and understanding for all that she may come in contact with. Furthermore, she believes that all stakeholders play a vital role in the potential growth of the village by always, “Paving the Way for Change” by investing in the goals and objectives of those future leaders of tomorrow.
